Abstract

Opus Alessandro Gwagnini („Sarmatiae Europeae Descriptio", 1578) has become a subject of research almost immediately after its publication. For the half ХХ century, both a person as the same chronicler, attracted the attention of scientists, mainly Polish, Russian and Ukrainian. At that time, interest of the work changed and in that respect can be isolated three periods. The divergence of views on life, and especially on the work of Gwagnini has its place in the literature historiographical, literary studies and historical works.
